I’m curious about what people will say because we have a very similar layout planned. I like it, but would also love to knlow what people think.

All I can think of is that th fridge shouldn't be so close to the wall.

You won’t be able to get the fridge door open wide enough to access th drawers or pull them all the way out for cleaning.

I forgot to mention it’s a counter depth fridge so it’s several inches less in depth.

My general thoughts are yes it might be tight, but I think your alternative (removing pantry and leaving opposite wall open) might also feel a little awkward in terms of use of space + aesthetics. The doorway next to the dishwasher should help in giving a small sense of openness. Questions I have:
1) Are you planning to use a lower-profile (ie shallower than standard) refrigerator? I’m assuming yes based on rendering and it feels like you’d need to.
2) Long shot here, but any chance you could do a small bump out behind where the fridge is located?
3) Your rendering looks like it calls for shallow soffits above the cabinetry— is this necessary, or could you take your cabinets right up to ceiling? (or is that just molding?)

If able, you should place masking tape on the floor to give a sense of how much space will be taken up with current plan (could also use tall cardboard to try and get a sense of overall volume too). Good luck!

consider putting the fridge where the pantry is, and putting a 12” deep pantry on the opposing wall? A shallower pantry is actually pretty functional And it will give you some storage with more openness.

Hi. I love the layout. The refrigerator will be fine - if a designer did this rendering then they will/should account for at least 3” filler against the wall to accommodate opening the door.

I am curious though - what is next to the dishwasher and small cabinet? Is that the dining room? If so is it possible to open that up to give you more room for the pantry. A suggestion would be to move the frig to where the pantry is and place the pantry next to the dishwasher - in that area. Opening up that wall will make the kitchen feel much bigger also. You might have room for an island as well!

I quite like the layout. Only change I would suggest is swapping your fridge and pantry location. Also build a wider and shallower pantry. You will have easier access to everything because you won't have to fight as much to access the items in the back of the pantry.

I would switch pantry and fridge and make pantry only 15" deep. Also make sure all your lower cabinets are drawers! Much more functional, holds more and is easier to use. Btw: Only drawers for lower cabinets. (Did I make my point?

Thanks everyone. The cabinets have been ordered and after much deliberation for more counter space the original plan has been kept. I let it light with the countertop too, I hope. All the bottoms have pull outs, as does the pantry. Now I have to figure out the backsplash.

Looks great, good luck! I am wondering how wide that doorway into the (dining room?) is -- I have about the same size, and same placement except I am putting refrigerator where your pantry is. Trying to figure out how to best use the space on the other side (where your pantry is).

The doorway now us 30 inches but we are opening it up to 48 or 50 inches.
