Here's a couple of pics.

Thanks Molly. That's a possibility but for some reason I like that bowl there because it picks up the greens in the picture and the rust colors in that area. I do have some other pottery similar though and the only pieces I might use from the antique in that area are green. The pottery I've collected previously is European and really doesn't fit with my more NW casual attempt now. I'll collect some pieces and put them out for everyone to see. I do have to be gone this afternoon but will try to do it this evening.

Here's a couple of other pics from a few things I quickly grabbed around the house.

The bottle of wine (empty) I brought home from Croatia, The bowl and matching plate were made by an artist on Orcas Island Washington, The floats were hand blown from the Oregon coast, the small round textured bowl was from Prague, the green scalloped plate is from Hawaii as well as the green covered dish, the grape plate from France, and the tall white swirled vase from a thrift shop. Anything here to make an interesting table centerpiece? I'd actually like to try and incorporate the vase and empty bottle of wine maybe.

Yes, the coral could look good on the buffet. Then I'll have to figure out what else to put on the chest in the hall. I'm just about ready to hang the picture on the wall above the chest in the hall where the glass sculpture sits. I have a busy day again today so it may be tomorrow before I get that done. I'm not sure what you mean by bowl #1 and #2. Is that the small bowl from Prague and the pottery bowl that matches the plate? they're so different I don't think that will work. I have to show you a pic of the kitchen which I love! I have used that plate on the counter before as in the pic.

Flo, thank you. I've collected pottery for a long time on my travels but now I collect books about the places we've visited. I'll look around the house (and maybe the attic for something else I can pair with your suggestion)

Molly, I also collected ornaments for years. I have some beautiful ones mainly from Europe. I've become a bit less of a collector now because of less space.

Ellen, this is for you. The cabinets aren't that dark.

Just noticed your beautiful dining room view, it looks so serene! Pictures look so much better on a computer than on a phone or ipad screen.

I am not a fan of medallions over ranges, but that is really special and suits the home beautifully. The kitchen looks wonderful! I think you can play with items on the table until you find a good mix you like. I would remove the placemats/runner. Let the items speak for themselves. To protect the table put little stick-on felt tabs on the pottery pieces. Or get a rectangular tray to set your items on. Either way, keep it pretty simple. I would prefer more height on the table though. Your table is big enough and you want that "scale" to be right.

Thank you Flo. My cooktop is on the island that enjoys the view from all the windows. And because we live in a forest close to the mountain I fell in love with the trees from Pratt and Larson. It gives us something to enjoy while we're cleaning up. I have a black tray I forgot about. It might be too big but I'll play with different things on it.

Well I moved some things around a bit. I've added pics to show. The table centerpiece is on my large black tray. I quite like it. I moved my green covered dish to the buffet to make a vignette. I moved the coral to the antique on the other green dish. I think it goes well with the photo I took in St Lucia. The picture in the hall with the glass art piece is of a zebra picture I took in Africa. The clear dish also on that cabinet is filled with black sand from a beach in Iceland and the clear rocks are supposed to symbolize the ice floating in the ocean on the black sand beach. I'm actually happy with the results but let me know your thoughts. Thank you!

I think I may remove some of the clear glass rocks that symbolize the ice. When I look at the picture it looks a bit much.

Bbl? I would like some kind of candle light. Maybe if I try to find a shorter candle? Does it have to be shorter than the wine bottle which I have elevated a bit because it did look a little small. What kind of stronger leaf? We have a forest of ferns so do I need to go to something silk? I get the stair step idea but I guess it needs to be more dramatic? I was also trying to vary the shape of the 3. So would a shorter candle with a smaller candle and stronger leak do the trick? I'm also trying not to compete with the arrangement on the buffet. Thanks Flo. It's still a work in progress.

Flo, I like the photo with the art and branches. I couldn't find exactly what I wanted but did get a smaller candle holder and some grasses for the vase. Are they too straight up? they don't bend. I live in a forest so I will have to go branches hunting. I don't feel I'm there yet but getting closer?

Flo are you suggesting I replace the vase with the coral or get some different branches AND add the coral rock to the tray also?

I'd try the coral in place of the candle holder on the tray. I like the lighter elements on the dark tray for contrast. Also, try out the other, tall candle holder where the coral is, now.

Thank you Flo. I did remove the grasses and added the rock. I agree it looks much better. I still like the candle holder with it for some mood light at night and this afternoon I will seek out either some branches or eucalyptus.

Alex9179 I did try the higher candle holder on the antique and it picks up the color of the gray water. It's amazing what small changes can do. Thank you.

I think the vase, candlestick and stone are just right together, in size and subject, without the wine bottle.

Flo I guessed you would like number 3 substituting the coral in place of the heavier black and white candle. You had mentioned glass before. Do you think the candle holder in 1 and 5 is contemporary enough? And the look of the whole thing is not too much the same color? Don't get me wrong I like it. I was having fun trying to guess what look you would like. :)
