You need to show photos with the pony wall gone and photos of the other side of the room. There's not enough visual information here. Are those your furnishings or real estate photos? Please help us out so we can help you? There are many ways to create a sense of an entryway, but more information is needed.

Here are pix from both ends of the room. I will have lamps, etc...these cans were all in house when purchased. Just don't know if a simple fixture will stick out "like a sore thumb". You can see hole in front of door that's waiting for "something". Suggestions? We're still waffling on floor ... medium color vinyl plank, or light? Doing whole house ...

A no-foyer living room can still be useful and welcoming. Below is the kind of layout creates an entry into a living room with no foyer--something to consider. The sofa back becomes a "wall." A runner at the doorway also creates a pathway into the room. (Alternatively, instead of floating the sofa, place two armchairs with a small table in between, backs to the entryway. Then float the sofa to face the front door and bay window.) The idea is to lay

out the furniture to separate the conversation area from entryway.

If you're selecting new living room furniture, be very, very careful to choose pieces that have low, not overstuffed, proportions--see sofa below. Measure, measure, measure with tape before buying anything, Houzz Dilemmas are often about sofas and chairs that are too big for the space. Your space is on the small side, so you'll want to furnish it with comfortable pieces with low arms and backs--no big brown "manatee" sofas and recliners, chairs up on legs. etc.

A colored interior doorway also gives a sense of an entry space.

You can use the short wall that faces you when you come in for a narrow table and mirror or piece of art.

When I see a nice bay window like that, I also see extra seating with a window bench. This one has drawers, but something simpler is easy to have built.

--A lovely entryway light fixture as well as one hanging in what looks to be your dining area will add a welcoming feel to the room. They shouldn't be too big, though. Put them on dimmers to add ambiance to the space. Match the hardware finish to both. What you choose will depend on your furniture. Good luck!

Lots to think about -- really appreciate it! My initial thought was to put sofa on right wall about halfway down with entertainment center in recessed area same side as kitchen entry, thinking that main seating should be on wall for outlets/table lamps. But I like the possibility of floating furniture. Have two lovely Flexsteel chairs that I was going to put by bay window with small table in between ... but will definitely consider all your ideas. Was going to use great room dining area for casual dining/game table ... then have small family room next to kitchen (actually almost part of it) that I was going to use as dining room. Have a beautiful 7' buffet that will fit in other room much better. We move in next week ... I'm sure I'll have more DILEMMAS!!
