Swimming pool colour

Would be grateful for your advice. We are retiling our pool around the side with a deep azure blue.

We will be painting the pool. We live in Malta and the only paint colour options available are white or the attached blue.

My understanding is that white painted pools do show up as blue - is that right?

Would love to see any photos of blue /white or blue/blue pools similar to this to help make a decision..

I don't think that tile will work with the paint.

Normally I would not put those two colors together, but I think blue will make the water look blue whereas white will be more turquoise.

Water reflects the color of the sky. You should be able to order paint in whatever color you want and have it shipped in. Yes its expensive - but so is looking at the wrong paint color.

Nothing says you can't mix the two paint colors.

Why not tile the entire pool? Or a plaster finish?

We have not painted a pool in 20 years. They do not last like they used to. You may be re-coating every 3 years.

My white pool ( plaster finish ) in my previous home looked blue, the perimeter tile was cobalt. The Pebble tec in my present home is a very light blue, the water appears light aqua. I dislike garish unnatural looking blues in pools & im afraid the sample pictured is a “no go”.

If it's hot, light colored pools stay cooler. I went with white.
