when you are playing the zone pushing game ... it really all boils down to your micro climate ... and no one can really tell you how it will all work out.. in your garden ...

i had one.. i think hollymaid.. or some such.. in my cold z5 MI ... and it usually took a lot of winter burn.... usually down to snow cover .. im not sure if its still out there .. lol .. showing just how excited i was.. over the plant ... lol ... it was a gift from someone from a warmer zone ... what can you do ... but smile and say thank you ...

Which means of course that zone is the lowest it can go.

My non-variegated blue holly should be hardy in my zone 6 but takes a beating in severe winters. Survival with periodic setbacks, sometimes to square one.

You might try Ilex x meserveae 'Honey Maid' PP 12060. But I would try a very protected location.

There are some variegated opaca cultivars, but you'll really have to hunt for them. They are not at all common to the industry. Look for 'Steward's Silver Crown', for example. Maybe zone 5 hardy with shelter and winter shade. Slow growing and more open in structure than typical opaca.
