My husband and I are finally getting our new build home furnished and decorated. Our style is very informal, breezy and coastal. We are putting the finishing touches on our bedroom. My husband would prefer there not be a single rug in the entire house whereas I like the softness and color in certain areas. So far he has deferred to me but now that we are finishing up the bedroom I would like to respect his opinions! Right now I have a rug on my side of the bed which I prefer to have when I get up during the night. Obviously this current rug does not relate to anything in the room and is only functional. Is there any way one rug on my side would work without looking unbalanced if he wants to keep his side bare. We would also prefer no part of any rug go under the bed because of the difficulty of cleaning since this is where our cats hide. If there is a solution, some examples of what might look good would be much appreciated.
