The first thing I did was to go to your idea books and see what your taste is. Then, I looked over your room, and the personal effects. Here’s the disconnect: your wall colors, carpet, and many of your items are plain and austere, but your personal items (the quilt, the wall hanging, the beaded light on the ceiling fan) say BOHO. In order to overcome all that plainness, you need more stuff that reflects your taste and personality.

It’s time for some shopping! New colorful accessories, a colorful throw over the wicker chair, colorful throw rugs in the bathroom, new towels, hang up that mirror that is on the hallway floor, and before you know it, it will all be colorful and bright.

Thank you for the advice. It does swing bohemian. I am definitely more eclectic but have paired down many things because of clutter. It's amazing how far kids stuff spreads in a house. But you are right, I need things in this room that are personal.

Honestly, i'd add color to the walls. I could see a teal or turquoise on the bathroom walls for example, and maybe a grayed purple/lavender for the bedroom to pick up some of the colors in your throw. Right now your walls colors read very neutral.

I like the turquoise idea! I really want to get rid of the brown accent wall that was painted by the previous owner.

what color would you suggest for the bathroom? I was considering changing the tile to white subway with dark grout and adding the hardware to the cabinets as you suggested. I prefer contrast with black, white, and splashes of color.
