Clothes Dryer Help

I have a Whirlpool gas clothes dryer (WGD5900SW0) that isn't running properly. A couple of weeks ago the drum wouldn't turn on occasion (started working again when I would turn it by hand). This problem seems to have stopped but now the dryer starts but then turns off after a minute or so. If the timer is left on, it will then restart again a couple of minutes later, and then shut off again after less than a minute. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Probably bad motor ... running in a bind due to bad bearings or an electrical problem. It has thermal overheat protection, will shut off if gets overheated, then run again when cooled sufficiently for the protector to reset.

Replacement motors are not overly expensive but that also depends on the source. I find it for $69 at one online source I often use (PartsDr.com) ... $84 at another (AppliancePartsPros.com) ... but SearsParts has it $149.

It's worth fixing. However a non-DIYer must also consider the cost of a servicer.
