Fastest quilt top ever

This is the fastest top I have ever done.

It is from Nancy Zieman, called Slip Knot, an Illusion quilt. Instructions are all there on her site.

Of course, I had to make changes. Her blocks are 9", quilt finishes at 72" square. Too big for my purposes. So I spent a good part of Sat. refiguring cuts and fabric needed. My blocks end up at 6", which would make a 48" square. Still not right for me, so by adding a narrow border on the length and a wider border on the width, I end up with 52 x56. I would have liked it longer but I fiddled around and finally said, " this is it".

I cut Sunday morning, stitched up the HSTs and then laid it all out on the tables.

This morning, I sewed blocks and rows and after lunch did the borders.

That dark fabric is a very dark green with a print.

Can you see this in black, red and grey? Or any combo? Super easy!

Now for a back rest.

Very nice! Would this be classified as a modern pattern? I'm impressed to did it so quickly, too.

Dancinggirl, I saw that pattern and I think the Nancy Zeiman one was easier to put together. That pattern gives small blocks whereas the NZ is one big block.

But directions are out there, aren't they, for whatever style we want.

I'm getting to where I kinda favor one big block for a quilt. At least I think I would. Someday I'd like to try this, and I would also cut the size down. I already have the number of HSTs and squares figured out and which fabrics go together. lol

Super nice! The more I sew the more I like simple designs, this is complex looking, but a straightforward sew...love it!

I hope I didn't disappoint Donna. Since I don't (haven't figured out) FMQ, it is quilted with a lot of straight lines. It is finished and washed and packed away with the rest of the bazaar quilts.
