Kitchen Island Help!

I need options/suggestions HELP! My original plan for my kitchen island was a range vent in the island behind the stove but we were unable to make that happen so we ended up with this. I conflicts with the lights which are more my style (rustic/farmhouse). We did what we could do with the budget we had and 4 years later I’m ready for change.
So I’m thinking about getting rid of the glass on the range hood and covering it with a shiplap look.
Thoughts?
Other ideas?
(Note: the pic is a little dated, we have bar stools and floating shelves about the sink now)

Get rid of the dated pendant lights in favor of the clean look of recessed. Leave the hood alone. No shiplap anywhere. That is another ship that sailed away a while ago.

I also would leave the hood and get rid of the pendants.

covering it with shiplap? in the middle of the island? no. total view blocker. leave it as is. (cover the stainless steel part with something else if you like)

or maybe upgrade to something flush? (I don't know if these are only for induction tops)

your pendant lights are hung too high, and they look too small for that spot.

if you must do your shiplap, do it behind the sink. (I'd rather do some really cool tile, but that's me)
