Backsplash ideas needed!!

So we have been working in our kitchen for a while. Bought a house and gutted the kitchen. Got new cabinets in a two tone color scheme and laid tile for our flooring.

We may go with the following slab of granite for our countertop:

Now I need to think of backsplash ideas. Initially thinking oh white subway tiles and somehow throw some color in there. But I don’t know how to do that.

Any suggestions or ideas? Thank you!!!

P.s. I can get a better pic of our current kitchen with all the cabinets up if necessary.

Hi, Yes I think more pictures will be good, if you can. The granite slab you've chosen looks really nice.

What paint colours are your cabinets? If you can share the brand - perhaps Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams, then people can get a real sense of the colour which sometimes does not come across well in photos.

Assuming you go with that granite, I'd choose a light to medium colour out of the granite and find a subway style tile for the backsplash. You can't go with white subway as nothing else appears to be white.

I'd be tempted to find a tile closer to the colour of the uppers and then on a sample board pull a darker coloured grout, closer to the colour of your base cabinets, or a darker vein in the granite.

While matching grout looks very nice, it makes the tiles disappear into what looks like a solid surface. Some contrast with the grout, even just a little bit of contrast brings interest without overpowering the look and making it too busy.

You should show the floor from the other thread you had going, and I think you need a white, a brightener DUE to that floor.. You don't want a one color kitchen.......floor, cabinets, and counter and backsplash. ALL.

Thanks for feedback! (Nice to see you again, Jan ;)) Here are a couple pics of my cabinets with our floors and then just our floor.

The cabinets are from a place onlin, cabinets.com. We ordered the tops in alabaster and the bottoms in willow gray.

The plan is to do a backsplash on the walls from countertops to cabinets if that makes sense.

I realize my granite slab may look similar to the floors but in person there is a bit of contrast between the two, and we are interested in staying light rather than going dark. Kitchen is not big, so I think going too dark could be too much for that space.
