Rift Cut White Oak Cabinets- Help with stain

Hi,

We have a custom bathroom vanity being made out of white oak. I am really struggling with the stain. I don't want it too dark, gray, white or orange. I tried special walnut stain and so far that may be my favorite. Thinking of beginning to play around with combining stains. Does anyone have suggestions for stains they have used. I don't want a natural stain because I want it slightly darker than the natural look. I do like the examples below. Thank you in advance for your help!

That looks like ammonia fuming. It will give you that exact color that you posted

Hi CJ. Did you ever decide on a stain For you white oak vanity? We are about to order one and I need to decide. I was thinking a whiter wash to take away any yellow hues. I’d love to see pictures? Who made your cabinet?!? We are using conestoga

It’s beautiful! Is that quarter or riff saw cut?!! We are using conestoga cabinets! Is that who you used? Thanks for the reply!

Thank you! I believe we used 4/4 riff white oak. We went with the stain because it was the only stain that I didn’t see red, orange or yellow. I would rather see gray. We used Sierra Mill in Placentia, CA. https://sierramillcabinets.com/ They were a pleasure to work with!

Hi Can you tell me what color stain and brand you used? thanks!

Hi! We used Minwax Weathered Oak. We did at least 2 coats....maybe 3. It has a gray tint through it but no yellow or orange! We also used a matte top coat.

Looking to do something similar and wanted to know if you sealed the cabinets after staining, and what was used?

Hi! Yes we sealed it, but unfortunately I don’t know the exact product. It was made by Minwax and we did a matte/flat sealer.

Hello. I'm a little late to this but can you post a few more photos of your cabinets? I'm trying to match a stain in this photo and wondering if your cabinets resemble these. Thank you!

Did you find a stain for cabinets like this?

Unfortunately no we didn't. After experimenting with many stains, we have decided to leave them natural looking and use a water based clear coat by General Finishes. The painters will begin applying the finish next week. It would be great if the stains/combos etc. used would be shared. Don't understand why all the secrecy.

Regardless, I think we will like the outcome!

We just finished two bathrooms in the same home, a powder room and a master bath. Both use white rift oak and both are stained to a honey or nutmeg color. If you like these, feel free to show them to your contractor/cabinetmaker.

    Hi HU-489609990,

I'm planning to do rift white oak cabinets in our remodel but the stain is absolutely killing me. Were you able to complete your project? I was wondering if you would be able to post pics of the end result. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
