Wow! How old is that bush?

Bushes of this size are typical in this neighborhood. I know camellias were very popular in the late 30s and 40s, so many of these bushes may be over 75 years old.

However, I suspect they already reached close to their maximum size many decades ago.

When we're talking about a timespan this long, camellias do not keep on growing bigger forever.

This Winter things were blanketed in 16 inches of snow for about a week, which is pretty unusual. Last Winter (2017-2018 ) was so warm sunny and mild that camellia bushes in the neighborhood were in bloom on New Years Day! (this was the same Winter that had a devestating freeze on the East Coast, ironically)

You can see the bush is almost two stories high.

There are some palms growing up against the building too. Apparently they can grow this far North too.

Again to repeat, the size of this camellia bush isn't that unusual for this neighborhood.
