Build vs buy raised beds?

For various reasons we've decided to go to small raised beds this year and give up the large garden except for onions, garlic, etc. Primary reason is age and we frankly don't use enough to justify the work of a 50 X 70 garden.

Have been looking at the "kits" which primarily consist of Cedar which are available all over. I'm concerned that the boards are thin and would tend to bulge. Alternately thinking of just building out of Pressure Treated wood. Probably a couple of 3' or 4' X 12'. Leaning toward 5/4" "deck" boards with 4 X 4's at corners and one or two set as posts along the long dimensions. I know someone who used "2" lumber but I'm not sure that would be required. I'm aware that modern PT lumber is safe in garden applications.

So, any input appreciated, buy vs build, thickness of wood required, etc.

Thanks for your time,

Ev
