We recently had some water damage from a toilet overflow that affected the wood flooring in our back entry and mud room (hence the dehumidifier in the pics)

The flooring may have to be replaced. I love the wood, but my husband feels pretty strongly that we should replace the back entry/mud room portion with tile instead. He has a point as we are constantly reminding the kids to keep their snowy clothes and boots on the rug and wiping up melted snow from the wood floors.

However, my concern with this option is that the transition would look odd into the hallway. We would probably transition it at the point where the wall extends out before the hallway. Thoughts? Keep it wood or would tile look ok? Also... if you have tiles suggestions I would love those too. I have yet to find anything I like.
