This is my Frosty seam (obviously bathroom). It drives me bananas and I know they did an excellent job. I would chose a material with jumbo slabs available. Also, this is honed and I would NEVER chose it again. I’m not a pro and I’m definitely a little ocd.

Goodness. Yeah I don’t know if I could handle that going down the middle of my island Honestly, I had to really look for it on your counter! But there will be nothing on top of my island (I’m a minimalist in regards to decorating) to even attempt to divert attention from it. This helps a ton, thank you so much.

IMO 72” is way too wide for an island how will you clean it I am really tall and have a 54” wide island I can barely reach across to wipe down so be prepared for a long walk every time you clean yours.If you narrowed your island a bit you could do one jumbo slab and not have to worry and if you were my client that would be my advice

The issue is the bad design that let a 72” wide island happen. That is unworkable, uncleanable, and unnecessary.

Fix the bad design and your counter problem goes away.

Thank you both for your input on the island. We have lived here 10 years, not a new construction. Reworking the island size is not in our budget, nor do we want to reduce the size. It is obnoxiously large, but we dig it:)
I have had my eye on some beautiful, light Fantasy Brown.... so I guess this is my opportunity to look into that further.

Anything will have a seam and fantasy will be more noticeable than carrina

Fantasy will have a seam?? That’s good to know, as my fabricator didn’t mention that. My current island slab (granite) has no seam, so I was hoping for the same if using FB. Frustrating.

ANYTHING will have a seam at that depth. 63” is fairly standard for stone slabs.

Your existing stone seems nice. Why are you changing it?

Thank y’all so much. I actually don’t hate my island stone, but I’m running into the problem of finding a good coordinating non-competing stone for the outer perimeter. So I figure I just need to change it all or change none. I know most of you will cringe, but I am going for an all white kitchen.

There's a bit of misinformation regarding slab sizes as you obviously have one in the size you want to replace. Granite blocks vary in size and the slabs cut from them will too; just be sure to look only at the stone that fit your size criteria. Man made quartz is a standard size with some items available in a jumbo. If your fabricator did not mention a seam on the FB, perhaps the stone is tall enough. In my morning emails, one vendor blast has the stone listed at 114x75.

I found a Soapstone slab that was 78 wide - used it for an island and a laundry room counter. My stone yard has an online slab yard. Watched it for 2 months and when it showed up I reserved it that day.

No, it won't look terrible at all. You can't avoid seams but Frosty Carrina has such a subtle movement and delicate, powdery gray veining, which makes it actually a perfect stone for matching.

Seams on Frosty Carrina are almost invisible. But make sure to ask your fabricator what should you expect. Not all fabricators and contractors will do the same quality job.
