Wall/Ceiling paint color

I want to paint the walls (probably gray) but there is a weird triangle area (highlighted in red) that I'm not sure if I should paint the same color as the wall or leave white like the ceiling? The ceiling has popcorn on it which I'm also not sure right now if that will stay or if it will be removed.
