Some blooms from our garden

We are far from daylily season, but we do have some flowers in bloom now.

I wish there were a daylily with the coloring of this amaryllis.

This is Billbergia amoena stolonifera variegata.

some daffodils

This is a weed called Veronica persica. It has pretty little flowers.

Daylilies are coming up all over the garden.

This is a seedling bed almost ready to plant.

I love spring!

Signet, we see most of the veronica in the empty lot next to us. Luckily, it has not overrun the daylily beds. Star of Bethlehem is another story. It is everywhere and spreading fast. We hate it too. The other two major plant pests in our garden are asiatic day flower and nutsedge. If we could get rid of those two, most of our weed problem would be gone.

Sherry, Riley is not always a good gardener. He forgets his manners when he is chasing the cat or a squirrel. He also digs, especially in the spring it seems. He has been guilty of digging up newly planted daylilies. But he really is a good dog. His house manners are perfect. Shedding is his only vice and he can't help that.

I have a patch in the yard of that Veronica, wondered what it is. My husband thinks it is very pretty. I figure it must spread really well, his favorite flowers are the invasive weeds. Love the bilbergia!

Very pretty. I love spring to. I spent about five hours clearing things that didn't get properly cleared when I was working on daylilies last year. Lots of little oaks. I have several Japanese maples that self planted that I need to pot up. this happens most years, but I have one that is going to be hard since it is over a foot tall already. Oh well. Gardens always have tasks to do.

Veronica persica , pretty yes but one of the banes of my gardens . It is everywhere , and I do mean everywhere and chokes even the daylilies out here . I can go to a garden reach down and grab a handful along with its roots only to discover it has overrun a daylily that is struggling to emerge . Hate the stuff ! Between it and creeping charlie and dandelions I spend my time cursing when cleaning out the gardens . To top it off , I can clear a garden of all of that stuff and by the next season the darn stuff is back ! .

Oh and another bane is Star of Bethlehem . I doubt I will ever ever get rid of it !

It looks like your daylilies are growing well. I have some of that veronica too, along with a million other weeds. Boy, what I wouldn't give to have that seedling bed. It looks gorgeous!

I wish I had done amaryllis indoors but procrastinated too long. Nice to see color even if it includes a weed LOL. I see you have a JD tractor which I assume has a tiller. Makes work so much easier for getting beds ready. Looks like Riley is well trained to stay on the path.

Julia, we do have a tiller for the tractor. When Bob first tilled that seedling bed in the picture in 2010, he did it with a front-tine tiller. I told him that he couldn't keep doing that kind of thing too much longer so we got the tractor about 4 years ago. We wouldn't want to be without the tractor or the John Deere gator.

I have a neighbor that has a small tiller and is always glad to till. He came by today wondering if I needed anything done. I showed him some of the hostas but I don't think that is his thing. Hunting and fishing yes. Pulling weeds - I wish.
