Hi Houzz,

I need to decide what to do with my stairs going from kitchen to basement. My basement floors are very light porcelain tile. My kitchen floors, once remodeled, will be oak.

I am using oak on stairs. Was going to just leave them natural but am wondering if that will contrast too much with basement. Should I stain stairs to match basement instead?

Also, was going to have risers also in wood as opposed to painting them white.

Advice is appreciated!
