1st could be one of the hybrids like xGasteraloe (Gasterworthia also listed as Alworthia) 'Royal Highness' or 'Flow' - I think I see some filaments at the ends of leaves from A. aristata, one of the parents. I am guessing 3rd to be another hybrid...2nd plant looks to me as Haw. glabrata concolor? sorry, just guessess - not much help :)

Look what I found on realizing they were in drying peat or coir which was & pulling away from their pots.

No wonder they look so healthy, they've got good looking roots.

It'll be work to get all this soil off of 'em.

This mix feels strangely spongy to the touch & makes me nervous.

I hope to work on these tonight or tomorrow & repot in my pumice based mix.

Nice finds. If they were mine I’d blast away that soil with a squirt of the hose. I know others prescribe to a kinder, gentler method to remove medium.

I found (and purchased, to save at least a couple) the same exact species, potted also in pure coir, in dumb holiday-themed pots without any drainage holes. This was at a prices-off kind of store, which usually doesn't sell live plants, right after the holidays. You couldn't beat the price for such nice plants. I felt sorry for the ones I had to leave behind. When I got them home, I repotted them in an appropriate succulent potting mix in clay pots and put them under artificial lights. They are, thank goodness, doing beautifully and growing well.

Nice plants, Karen. The Haw and its two second-cousins (gasterworthias, IMO) should do well you in your mix. I agree with Tyler-get rid of that soil on those plants-those roots should have been thicker for such a plant.

Am so glad I unpotted them, the smaller ones (Gasworthias?) have well established roots, while the larger Haw less so.

Turns out I found out why. The larger (Haw), I worked hard getting the soil off w/ a miniature rake, I was distracted & forgot to take a pic, put then I found this stuff crumpled at the very base of the plant.

Was tough to get off, you can see I lost some roots in the doing & there weren't lots of roots to begin with. Grrrrrrrrrr. But it'll recover, I'm sure.
