At a friend’s house admiring her huuuge schefflera that she bought at HD about 5 years ago. She says it’s dropped a bunch of leaves and has some sort of sap all over the leaves. On closer inspection, there’s what I assume is scale all over the backs of most of the leaves and fronts of some. Stems in a few places.

So my questions are, is it indeed scale and can it be saved? All advice greatly
