fireplace surround paint question

We’ve recently finished a gas fireplace surround which consists of drywall and wood paneling. After priming the whole surround we painted it a matte white by BM with the best paint they could recommend for the purpose (including it being washable), however I am wondering if I need to seal the paint to help with any future stains from little hands/the dog, etc? It’s my first experience with a such project and paint in general. I realize that gloss paint is more durable but we really wanted a matte look for this one.

I’m wondering what others did who have a similar fireplace surround? Did you seal it in some way?

Thanks!
