I would paint it ( interior ) the same as your wainscoting, same for the sidelights. The exterior navy I guess, assuming you like it.

I don’t think it’s too dark, and it’s a nice color. Just make sure that it works with the color scheme of the interior of your home.

I would paint the interior door and sidelights the trim color too. As for the exterior, I prefer to paint the door a color and keep the sidelights the trim color. (There will be differing opinions on this).

What color are your shutters currently?

The shutters are blackish.

I agree with those above about the interior side being done same is the interior trim. For the exterior, unless the shutter color is changing, the navy doesn't do a whole lot. I'd keep exploring for the exterior door color, and paint door, side lights and transom the same color. Perhaps consider colors that pull from the stone pillar but in deeper shades.

IMO the shutters should be removed and then navy would be fine on the exterior. As for the interior I have no idea of the interior decor so can't comment on the door. Yes to the whole door and sideleights the same on both .I think the inside done the same as the trim might be a good choice.

are you saying the interior door should be white or just the interior sidelights should be white?

Personally I see nothing worng with leaving the door as is. I like a wood stained door and it looks good next to the floors. Just my .02.

I also like the door as is. If you wanted to freshen it up you could have it sanded and stained close to your flooring. If you insist on painting will join the others who recommend painting it the same color as your trim.

I would love to keep the door stained, but the orange color is throwing off the space. I have no idea how to figure out a close match to the floors because they are a custom color, and the floors are red oak and the door is fir.

Go a shade darker than with a gel stain.

Consider matching your interior door stain to your interior handrail stain on the stairs. It would be best not to introduce a new stain color to that area.

The railings and stairs are the same color as the floor.
