There’s no way you can do this without gutting everything in that picture and starting over with more appropriate choices. That floor and that backsplash do not fit with the idea of an upper end kitchen with a 48” range and 54” hood. They clash.

I also like the backsplash in the right environment. You can choose to keep it if you choose cabinet hardware the looks more old world and is heavier in weight & size. I like the idea and think it will look fine. What countertop stone did you choose?

There is no way to keep that splash and move to a 48" range. The layout would need to remain exactly the same with no changes. And itbeluld till sustain damage during demolition.

Does your kitchen have enough room for that 48" range? How are you handling the required makeup air?

I don't think you have thought this through thoroughly. You need a Kitchen Designer to help you with those things you don't know that you don't know.

Live_wire_oak we are extending counters six feet on the other side of the kitchen and do have room for the 48” range. Will be consulting with an HVAC guy about the makeup air. Thank you all for your comments. We are in the early stages of the Reno and haven’t committed to anything yet, just trying to figure it out and keeping open to all options. We will working with a kitchen designer.

the tile isn't as dated as the rope accent. the 4x4's are actually making a comeback, minus the accent.

But gutting cabs/countertops and trying to save that backsplash will be next to impossible. And, what if you have a spot that needs more tile?

as much as you may like it, I'd take it out and start over. you can always find similar tiles that will go w/your new quartz. Starting anew will let choose whatever color you like w/o having to match the tones in that tile.

I like your tile a lot. Aside from the logistical concerns about breakage and needing more, I think that backsplash looks best with a dark countertop for contrast and emphasis. Maybe you can find something that has as much character as the original.
