Philodendron bipinnatifidum syn. with P. selloum???

Generally I don't know Philos, but somehow I knew this & suggested sellum to 2 people, but the one w/ a smart phone, got pix that didn't match.

I grew up in Brazil & the ones in the pix look familiar to me, I must have seen it in the landscape, I just didn't know I knew its name.

Wait, maybe I spoke too soon. Looking again, the leaf in my pic isn't as deeply cut or lobed as those for the name you offered. Hum .... could it be an age thing?

Leaves on a juvenile aroid can look quite different to those of an adult plant. Your plant could be a juvenile P. bipinnatifidum. But there are other Philos with similar leaves. One other characteristic to help identify it is whether it's becoming a vine or developing a 'trunk'.

That plant looks very much like a juvenile P. bipinnatifidum. But as tropicbreezent says, there are other philos with similar look. However, P. bipinnatifidum is probably among the most common.

P.bipinnatifidum gets large quick. if yours stays small it's more likely to be P. 'Xanadu' . but it will also develop a trunk with time..
