Benchmade Modern sofas

I'm interested in informed opinions concerning the quality and value of Benchmade Modern's sofas. Customer testimonials outside of Yelp and the companies own website seem difficult to find, and despite an endorsement from Wirecutter, that has me somewhat nervous about placing an order.

I ordered a Tyler sectional in Keen Slate performance fabric in March 2019, received in April 2019, and I'm very pleased. Customer service was very good both pre-purchase (sending photos of similar sectionals in the fabric I'd chosen, etc.) and post- (we briefly considered using their free return option because while the quality and look of the couch were fabulous, I hadn't thought to consider the seating depth and my 6'3" husband found the one I ordered a bit too shallow at first - our inquiries about the return were addressed promptly and straightforwardly with instructions on how to go about it, but fortunately he got used to it and I got to keep it!). We have two small kids and it's held up very well, spills have cleaned up well, and I haven't noticed fading despite strong southern exposure sun.. The model I got is a pretty firm, tailored look, and you do see some creases in the upholstery on the seat cushions when you get up from sitting, but they're easy to smooth out and I think unavoidable in that style sofa. I'm actually considering 2 more couches from them now for a renovation, though I see their prices have gone up considerably. The same sectional I ordered 2 years ago for $4300 is $5300 now.

I ordered from them Sept 2020 and received them in Oct 2020. I can’t speak in comparison terms, but I was happy with the experience. I had specific needs, three cushion seating, and they were able to facilitate. So far we’re pleased.

Tdbulldog - is the Tyler comfortable? I love the look and customizability but wary of buying a couch I haven’t sat in.

I think so but it depends on your taste! It’s quite firm which is excellent for someone like me with back pain - a super soft couch makes it worse. My elderly mom also finds it easier to get up from vs our prior couch which you sort of would sink into. I find it very easy to sit with a laptop for hours on the Tyler and also to stretch out with a throw pillow under my head to watch a movie. Of course, I also buy the very firmest mattresses, so your mileage may vary!

Thanks for this post. I am considering the benchmade tyler sofa with chaise and the hughes reversible sofa from joybird... benchmade is about $2000 more... is it worth it?? I haven't found a lot of reviews about benchmade. Thanks everyone.
