Marion is more rose-thorny than prickly and ripens to near-black.

Foliage and fruit in the above pictures has the general appearance of Logan, although most recent plantings are of the thornless variety and have more delicate canes and smaller fruit. How long ago were these planted?

I am not familiar with Tayberry; perhaps these have larger fruits like those pictured.

Fruit is not the right shape for Boysen.

This is the 3 spring in the ground. They grew very aggressively last summer. I got them originally from someone locally out of their yard and just forgot what they were called. They were off shoots of the person's main plant. Don't remember the house anymore to go back and ask.

I'd say marionberry. Both tay and loganberry do not develop that deep, almost black purple color. And they also ripen much later in the season. Marionberry produces early (late spring into summer) and can develop extremely long and very thorny canes.

The fruit pictured above looks utterly unlike Marion that actually blooms/ripens later than Logan in Oregon. Logan, if left on long enough, ripens to a very deep red-purple just like the fruit on the left. Your berries are more tapered than Marion. Marion has a more irregular shape.

I grow many kinds and have attended several Caneberry Field Days over the years at the regional experimental station.

Image searches on google are confusing because many cultivar images of blackberries are incorrectly labeled. Just now looking at Marion results I see lots of Triple Crown and others.

I think you can rule out marionberry I grew that one and it doesn’t look like that.

It looks just like the marionberries I grew up with!! And that is the only blackberry-like variety I am familair wth that has a chance of producing fruit this early in the season. Although this is remarkaby early!
