Nice job, in your next project you should add end cabinet next to the cooker with pull out garbage bin , that would look much nicer and it would give a small counter top on the side.

Beautiful! I would add a cabinet next to the stove with a drawer for the stuff perched on the stove and the pull out trash bin. You are so talented I’m sure you could come up with something great!

About the extra cabinet next to the stove. I did think of that but there is a pocket door behind the wall and so we couldn't fasten it. I had to make some concessions. I did do this:

Jan..I have a basket I take down off the stove when I'm cooking. The rest actually is above and behind. Thank you for the concern and attention to clutter. I'm trying to clean out an area for just that.

Pocket door behind the stove! So how did you hang the top cabinets, there must be a way to add a small side cabinet. Just think about it LOL.

Those are the original cabinets from 1950. They were built as one unit, very sturdy. Looks like they were attached about 6 inches from the ceiling. I sanded and added the trim, then primed and repainted.

I have an idea. Glue the back to the wall and screw the bottom to the floor. It won’t move.

Thank you. I have to show what I'm really proud of. The drawer was small and kept coming off so I built a new one and added drawers to the bottom cabinet, also built as one.

I loved working on it. The research, design and then the actual work. There were some challenges at every part but I loved it! I keep asking my friends if they want their kitchen re-done. It was also done on weekends and weeknights as I work full time.

I do agree with Jan Moyer.
It’s not about clutter, it’s a safety issue.
I am concerned about the fire hazard if the basket propped above your stove or any of its contents fall onto a hot heating element.
There are several options for you to keep your pot holders and gloves handy.
You can purchase several S hooks and hang them from the oven door handle and hang pot holders and gloves there.
There is an upper cabinet just above to the right of the oven.
On the right side of that cabinet you can put up a few Command Hooks and hang your pot holders and gloves from there, or you can by a metal grid or epoxy coated metal grid and mount it on the side of that cabinet and by S hooks and hang things on it.
You can also mount pegboard too, painted to match your cabinets.
Just make sure that your gloves and potholders have loops from which they can be hung. You can buy seam binding and sew on loops with that.
