I’ve lost two daylilies as A result

I know how you feel. Most of our week here has been cloudy, showers on and off, a bit of snow squalls over the weekend, peeks of sun, colder than normal. I guess I count myself lucky that we haven't had tornadoes (knock on wood). I'm thinking we may have another year of not having a true spring but jump right into summer weather.

Crown rot, too wet.

Aww Sherry & Roxanna that is way too much rain, I can relate. I am rural but the closest city to me is Ottawa. Many surrounding areas have been evacuated and most of the waterways have not peaked yet. A state of emergency is in effect and the army has been called in. Thousands of volunteers have been filling sandbags. There is so much water that a major bridge between Ottawa and the province of Quebec has been closed since the steel structure is vibrating enough that it has been deemed unsafe. Dikes are at great risk of giving way too.

It has been a combination of snow melt and rain. It is raining again today making matters much worse.

In over 40 years my basement had never flooded - until this year. My sump pump simply could not handle the amount of water coming in. I am waiting for my furnace motor to dry out to see if it needs to be replaced. Another inch or so and it would have been the water heater too. I added a second sump pump just in case this ever happens again.

Roxanna it is a good thing we oldish ladies are tough. You have been put through the wringer so to speak.

It seems the story is the same in the north most places ,Laurie, hope it dries out near you and that furnace is still in good shape. I’m a mile away from a river that’s at flood stage now with more rain predicted the next few days.

There is probably a good chance I’ll be whining about how dry it is in August, ma nature has been pretty cruel recently, just want to see the sun for a few days.

We had 3 months where I think the weatherman said we did not have 3 days in a row without rain, rarely even 2 days. April still had rain, but I don't sink in the ground when I walk in the yard. I think I did lose a daylily or 2, but 1 showed up I thought I lost last year. I do feel your pain, but so glad not getting your rain. Well, it is supposed to rain the next 3 days, but only expecting 1 to 2 inches out of it Our creeks are just in the last week or so getting back to normal. I am tired of it too.

I woke up to lots of newly unfurled hostas with snow on them! But I've never had to deal with what some of you are describing with lakes on your driveways or the army filling sandbags. Wow, that's pretty intense!

sherry, daylilies are so tough, that's sad that you've lost a couple. Hopefully, no more than that.

roxanna, sorry to hear about your basement flooding. That's lots of extra work I'm sure you didn't need.

Laurie ....oh no! Your furnace needs to dry out? Crossing my fingers for you that it will still work.

All this extra work and expense, when all we really want is to be out in the sunshine enjoying our gardens.

We're above last year's precipitation at this time, and it was the wettest year on record. I just hope the summer doesn't turn into the tropics again.

I cringe for you guys.

So glad I don't live in a floodplain. Plus, my building is on a HILL.

So sorry, we are beginning to be a bit dry after tons of rain this winter. I lost two from rain and the late freeze.
