Found Caterpillar!!

I was picking flowers and didnt find the little Caterpillar until i got home and so i took him outside and released him on one of my plants( a catharnthus) but he looks similair to a monarch Caterpillar but it says they only eat milkweed, but thats not even the flower i found him on (it was some sort of yellow flower weed) does anyone know what he is or if he can live off the catharnthus?? I wanna help this guy lol
