Platform bed assistance please!

I'm in the market for a new bed. My dog sleeps with me, but can no longer jump up on the bed herself; I have to pick her up. I know platform beds are lower to the floor, but I'm unsure of the distance between, especially since I'm needing a new mattress as well. I have back issues and I am not a fan of sleeping hot. Could someone please give me some advice as to the best platform bed / mattress combo that will ease my sleep and help my pooch curl up on the bed by herself? Thanks so much!

Don't worry about the bed, get your dog some steps up to the bed.

I tried the steps; she sees them as an obstacle and avoids them. Also, her arthritis flares occasionally, which makes steps of any kind difficult without assistance. Thanks for the suggestion. I should have mentioned I already did the steps route. The bed is still needed, however, for my back as well as my dog.
