Replace Mirrored Sliding Glass Doors

I have an older condo, built in the 70's. It has three bedrooms with mirrored sliding glass closet doors., and also a hallway closet the same. I would dearly love to replace all these closet doors with wood doors. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms are on the smallish side. I'm concerned though that replacing mirrored closet doors with (white) wood ones will make the rooms look smaller.

However, in the open houses I've been to, it seems that they have wood doors, and the rooms don't feel small to me. My girlfriend has a new condo with 2nd and 3rd bedrooms where the closet doors are wood. Doesn't feel small.

Is there a rule of thumb I can use here to gauge how the rooms might feel? I suppose I could cover the glass on the doors with something like paper, and see if it makes the rooms feel small?
