Gorgeous pics!! I just saw a couple of 'em the other day. They're definitely less numerous than their red-winged cousins.

One year I had about a hundred of them in my yard here in Arvada. It was probably about 7 years ago. It was very exciting. But I have never seen them again.

Nice photos. They aren't very numerous in my area of California. The females can throw people with their id, but the males are pretty distinctive. It is the tricolored blackbirds that make me study them.

Great pictures, Laura. I've been seeing the white crowned sparrows here quite a lot. Their heads sure get my attention.

This is a bit off topic, but I was going through a lot of my older pictures and found a funny one I took. It's in one of our fields. We do have lots of red winged blackbirds and this one was especially ticked off at a deer who decided to rest in his territory. :)
