Looks as though you have two good shoe storage places.

Finish it to make it a closet. Add a curtain to hide the shelving.

Maybe some storage bins

Put a bi-fold door over it so you can store whatever you need to. Or hang drapery panels on a rod in front of it. You could use it for towels, sheets, etc. If you don't mind having it open, add more shelves and use it for shoe storage.

So the audio equipment is there bc it is for our tv which is in the bedroom right next to the door there. I cant fight my husband on his audio equipment!!

Promise your husband an audio system to blow his socks off, if you can reclaim this space for your collective use as a closet. Then....call in a Closet Design specialist and see what they can do with the space. Win/Win!

Bifold door. More shelves. In my life that becomes the game and puzzle closet. Or blankets and sheets.

Would a bifold door have to be custom or could i buy at Home Depot or Lowe’s and have my husband install?

lot of good suggestions up above. you have a great little space that's being underutilized. decide which you really need and go from there. get some better shelving made so you can store things. maybe a floating desk for you or for makeup? computer?

the stores have in stock bi-fold doors in stock sizes. usually 24, 30, 36" , etc.

When I saw purse/tote bag on upper shelf I thought what about that space for heavier items... and for jewelry bag [the kind you hang on a rod] so you could see your pieces head on. Scarves -- I have to see, to wear them!

I would put louvered doors (put the equipment on the top shelves) and make this your jewelry armoir. Puck lights and a mirror will help you pick your jewelry for the day. You can simply put hooks, or cork and push pins to hold your necklaces and rings.

What a great extra space to have !!! WHAT Do YOU NEED ?? That would be my first question . You need more storage ? Then put better shelves , perhaps some drawers and put folding doors ...or put a make up table ..mirror ..seat, office space ....?? Or just a place to hang bathrobes ?

If I didn't need the space for anything ... I would cover up the back with Sheetrock and put a large painting ....

Oh , I am just reading that you can not change the audio equipment . OK then , clean it up and put another shelve above ...then cover it with Louvered little doors and use the rest as a vanity , office or extra closet ...you can share ... After all he doesn't have , like my husband three closets full from top to bottom with audio , and film equipment ...I am seeing only a couple of little boxes ...all can be cleaned up nice and tidy ...that way you have your cake and ......

A vanity or desk could look very cute here but would you really want to sit in this little space and use it for those purposes? I doubt it.

If you remove the shelving I would cover the heating pole like a column also add a venting grid and incorporate a desk around it and accent the wall.

First is too flowery if pipe behind it stays - gosh could put same colors over pipe in same yellow, stripes or otherwise [removable wallpaper?] But the more rugged and casual patterns look better imo.

And what blends with bathroom, etc.... ?

Books and someone cuts around the pipe.

Pipe could have vertical line, and lamp ribbon or tape could have horizontal.
