Annie sloane chalk paint. Layers of paris gray and french linen.

Did you use light or dark wax on the piece. Also how many layers of paint did you use. I love this piece!

Hi, thanks for the compliment. I used french linen, paris gray, pure white, dark wax and clear wax. I started with a layer of french linen. I put dark wax over that, then dry brushed paris gray over that to kinda make it streaky. Then i just started sort of experimenting and applying dark wax then a mix of paris gray and pure white. I really cant tell you exactly because I just kept adding layers until I got the look I wanted. But I think the key was really the dry brushing technique. I think if you just play around with those three colors, some dry brushing(with a very dry brush) and some dark wax here and there you can get the same look. Its all about trial and error. do you apply linen first then Paris grey?

Yes, French linen first, then layers of dry brushing Paris gray and white, in between layers of dark and light wax. It's really hard to say exactly. It was just a matter of experimenting with the three colors and the waxes, until I got what I wanted. Hope this helps.

This is stunning, it is exactly the combination I would like to use on a dresser and armoire. Is there anyway you could send or post a picture of the entire dresser. Beautiful job!

How long did it take?
What is dry brushing? Once you put the brush in the new paint color it is no longer dry....a little confused.
Do you apply the new color then use a dry brush to create the texture & pull some off?

this takes some time and patience. dey brushing is just dipping the brush in the paint lightly, and dabbing off much of the paint before applying. there was no real formula for this piece, it was just adding different layers and techniques until I was satisfied with the look. You just have to play around with this paint a bit to see what you can make happen.

Colleen, you've been so kind answering so many questions, many over and over again. Some of us want to know about the Pearl Luster you mentioned. At one point did you use it? And....is it an Annie Sloan product?

Hi Colleen, this is gorgeous! I started to paint my dresser and mirror with Paris gray and linen white. I used light and dark wax and although I like the effects, I’m afraid it looks little bit like a stone mausoleum lol. I did the mirror and thinking about if dresser shouldn’t have a shiny top coat. What did you use to get such a nice shine? Do you have any suggestions? Here is my mirror. Thank you in advance
