Hello! We are remodeling the exterior of our house. Our plans were for a portico that would be 6-feet wide above our former 6-feet wide landing. We hired a mason recently who took it upon himself to expand the landing by two feet so we now have an 8-foot landing with design plans for a 6-foot wide portico. We are unsure if the building inspector will allow the change (the 6-foot is grandfathered it due to setback). Will the 6-foot portico look funny over the 8-foot landing? Do we try to find someone to chop a foot off either side of the landing? Or do we attempt an 8-foot wide portico? Please help!!!
