I did a better job on our bathroom, for which we bought a wet saw (and replaced the blade when needed). Did you discuss the bull-nose edging with the contractor before the tiling was started? I can't believe someone thought this was acceptable--I would be very upset, too.

That is absolutely terribly done and I would absolutely want all of the edges recut. My husband and I did far better doing our own backsplash years ago with no experience and just a fast run through from a guy at Home Depot. This contractor should be ashamed and hopefully he knows it. I’m so sorry that you’re dealing with this.

A wet tile saw costs just a couple hundred (or less) at Home Depot and is not terribly large or heavy to transport. I know because most of our house has tiles throughout which we did entirely ourselves and never had a tile look like those edge ones. Blades are peanuts to replace also, especially when you are a contractor. Never use a dull blade.Hopefully you can get this torn out and hire someone else.

Whether it is a large job or a small job, it should all look good and have equal workmanship. That is a lousy excuse for not using a wet saw. We have done all our own tiling and it is not real hard. Especially with the thinner wall tiles. So if need be, you can rent a saw from Home Depot or even buy one and do it. Good luck.

Sure sorry you had to go through that. "they only use a wet saw for "big jobs" That's just BS. Either that or they are incompetent, and I'll assume the latter with the bullnose mixup. Hope you get it straightened out to your full satisfaction.

Oh my that is bad. I feel like my child could have made better cuts. Where did you find this guy? I would go with someone else & completely redo it.

Ugh - so sorry this has happened. Ask him if he wants you to post those pictures to a Yelp review of him, and if he'll use them as examples of his work on his website.

I bet you weren't getting a cheaper hourly rate for his work than the big jobs either.

That looks terrible.

Make sure the pencil/pen marks he made on the tiles will actually come out.

What a load of crap. We did my backsplash ourselves and most certainly used a wetsaw. No way would I have done it without one. Your contractor is full of it.

Oh my goodness .... I could feel myself getting mad for you while reading and seeing those photos. Even worse than tile was the ridiculous answer about only wet saw on big jobs. Um, did that really come out of your mouth sir? I like the question about the yelp reviews/photos and if he’d be willing to sport that workmanship on his website.

M Chap, sure glad to hear and see your tile work was corrected, and I'm sure it's a huge relief to you. Not at all sure why you'd think your tile and grout wouldn't be a popular choice - it's perfect! I won't make any more comments (ok maybe one, I think you did amazing!) until you post a reveal thread - when you are ready, of course : )

I think you picked a GREAT tile! No idea why you think that would not be popular - it is perfect with those cabs. Good job, and so happy for you that it got resolved!
