Fascinating. I've seen it mentioned, but didn't know its history. Who wouldn't want to grow it!?

I find the small ones endearing, and as you know there are others like Pompom de Paris and some more whose names escape me. A garden can look rather boring when every rose is a large blob with large foliage, and the little ones break that up with their darling flowers and more miniature leaves. Small is often good!

Ingrid, I so agree! That's why I like the polyanthas and small singles so much. There's a sweetness there that the larger more sumptuous roses often don't possess. : ))

I suspect it will not exceed 20" in your region, and as you suspect, most of it will die to the ground every winter. Mine is this big simply because it is protected, under plastic.

Ah, ok.....then I don't have to worry about where I put it. I knew this would get bigger than some of the others, but even my 'Cramoisi Superieur' maxes out at about five feet by five feet at the end of the season, only to be pruned back to about 12" every Spring.

I'm hoping to collect as many of the Lawrancianas (however it's spelled -- I've seen it several ways) as are still out there for the cemetery. So far, I've got "Oakington Ruby", "Dolly Dudley", "Abbot and Burns Family Rose" (which may be the same as "Dolly Dudley"), "Picayune", and "St. Thomas China." I still have to get 'Roulettii' and 'Pompon de Paris' in the bush form. If anyone knows of any others out there, please mention them. They're perfect for honoring the children at the cemetery. If I ever get them all, I'll just start making copies.
