Love the rug! Love the coffee table! What colour are your walls? That sectional looks massive will it work in your space?

For what are the fabrics in the upper left corner?

The rug is fabulous. Not sure if the other elements compliment the rug. It depends on how they are used.

Likes: table - nice design, color of couch - won't show stains much.

Dislikes: White and black wide stripe - to bold - to easy to get tired of quickly.

Plant stands - nice shape but no contrast against wall. Make sure whatever you put it in front of is a great color that will let it POP!

Rug is pretty, but the colors are not being picked up in any other piece. Let's get some unity here!

I haven’t decided on a wall color. As of now, white! I would love any input :) The fabrics in the corners are for throw pillows. I have to use the sectional it’s the one I have :)

I'd try to bring in more of the blue in the rug. Fuzzyguy's pic shows how a pale version of it can work as a wall color. It brings more oomph than white walls do, but doesn't steal the show.

Love the multi rug! Sectional would need pillows in some colors found in the rug. I would like teals and blues and 1 pink pillow. Mix and match. Multi pillows with a touch of the sofa color will work nicely also. I feel wall color can come last. paint is the easier choice after more difficult items are decided. Is sofa gray?

The rug is fabulous. but other pieces have no connection to the colors in the rug.

Keep: The coffee table has some of the browns & blacks in the rugs.

Planters are lovely. Try plants inside that have baby blossoms of the pink from the rug.

Discard: the cushions need to pull colors from the rug. They are currently too bold and modern with no connection to the rug.

Couch: we all have pieces we must keep and design with. Cushions with the rug colors and a soft throw with your favorite of the pink or the blue draped over the couch. Will connect this couch.

Extra: include on the coffee table a bouquet of flowers that bring out the pink in the rug.

Not a pro but my 2 cents: Beautiful rug. Remove current throw pillows from sofa (or maybe use them for new covers). Pillow covers that incorporate the cream and blue/teal and one with the pink. Cream textured throw. Nice coffee table. Add the pink flowers on top.
I think acrylic side tables or accessories would also look nice too.
A touch of black but not as a true accent color.

The rug is VERY bright in person and I am actually going outside of my comfort zone with it. I considered blue and pink pillows, but to be honest I don’t like it. I wanted to keep other things more neutral and allow the rug to get all the attention. I plan on incorporating the colors of the rugs through artwork and accessories and with some floral plants added to the room. Does that seem lack luster?

What about pillow covers with a gray or cream background but a few pink or teal/blue accents? Check Etsy; there are a lot of good options on there

Since the sofa has to stay and you want that rug...I would likely keep the rest of the items firmly in the palette expressed on the textured pillow in the bottom right. That means no black and blinding white stripes. No black on white fabrics. No solid black textiles at all. The touch of "true' black that most rooms benefit from can be better achieved with the base of your coffeetable and a few subtle accents. Also, no cool-toned white walls. No arctic white planters. There are warmer whites to explore. Now, all that said, I hope you post again. And remember,charcoal is not black ;-)

The planters are more of a cream white. Not bright white at all. I already have the black and white striped pillows and I was trying to figure out a way to keep using them. I can use them in another room. They aren’t necessary. Just playing around with some ideas. I really don’t want too much color going on everywhere. The rug is bright and I have artwork with pinks and blues I will be using in black frames with black matting. So I need a black, cream, pink, blue cohesion

Being that the rug is so dramatic, a true focal point, and has very vivid bright colors, the rug is a large amount of color in this room. To soften and blend it in, I think you need to balance the colors in the room in large enough doses to avoid seeing only the rug. I agree, also color in Art and Accessories for sure.

The sofa needs color. I like multi print pillows to repeat the rug colors and brighten the sofa. The eye will have a much smoother flow for the entire vignette. The rug will not be the only thing you see.

I love everything except the pillows. I like'd the pillow fabric to incorporate colors from the rug and be mixed up and not so geometric.

One strategy to consider is to make use of the 3 least appearing colours in the rug. Note in the pic of the rug above,the use of yellow,turquoise & aqua in the room. Lively,yes, but it unifies and tames the two rugs.

Yep but just too many pillows in that pic. There's no where to sit. With a sectional like OPs, six max. If she's using the 3 gray ones, then just 3 more smaller ones I think.

sofa is earthy bronze brown? I'd go more muted than the bright rug.

The couch is a dark grey. It’s much lighter in person than it looks on this photo. It almost massy he’s the grey in the rug.

The opinions I’m getting want me to lean more this way with throw pillows? I have a hard time not using any black I really like black and I am using it in almost all framing pieces.

The grey throw pillows that came with the couch will NOT be used :)

E G, you might find that one or two of the pillows help harmonize your pillow selection. Hope the forms are useful,at least. Will you please share where you found that bottom textured pillow?

Hmm, I must have been typing before when you were posting your latest collage,EG. That's why I missed it when I asked about the pillow ;-)

Anyway, since you really like black, use some. Always lead with what you love. But could ya maybe love some more subtle iterations on your pillows than that bold wide stripe? Something more akin to the pillow next to the stripe on the bottom row of your first plan. Picked these at random,but you get the idea.

Basically,the idea is to bridge the rug and the art via the pillows. Since that rug is bossy, you want to "meet" it but not with a SHOUT. The art has to have a say too and three folks shouting in a space most often = a fight. I think what you want is more of an enhanced & creative sophistication :-)

I can definitely do away with the black and white stripes. I’m not married to them and they are covers from ikea anyhow ♀️ I can use them in another room or outside. They went with my previous decor. The rug DOES have black in it. Maybe the photo isn’t showing it much, but the dark lines in the border and some of the design is black. That’s why I wanted to pull some black out and balance it vs having color all over the place. I have had different options of allowing the rug and art stand for itself and keep other things neutral. These pillows aren’t as easy as people think. Lol. Kudos to the designers who make these things look effortless!

I feel if the rug does not show black from a distance, then it will not be obvious enough to work with black accents. You can add black to the mix but I believe you have to add some of your brights from the rug onto your sofa to coordinate the rug's colors to some other area in the space.
