I would try, if you can find wood for replacement where it needs it. It is a very cute house, and a shame it has gotten into that state. I am sure you are already aware, that it is going to be a lot of work. Good luck to you.

Replace a few cracked boards, get it painted with some really good stuff, and it'll be good as new.

yeah interested boards on top of boards. At least wood siding doesn't look like special size or milled special. just wondering if we need to house wrap over first layer of boards. as well. Will hire help of course start basics myself. We have a lot to replace too.

Maybe search the area for replacements? Someone else may be ripping theirs out...there are reclamation yards...craigslist.

Some things can't be determined until you start to investigate further...dry rot, termites, etc. When you start to scrape, you'll know more.

Inside, I would probably keep as-is. It's rather rustic and charming.

Re house wrap. It will make the house more energy efficient. Is the house in a high humidity area?
