They were recently bought by Haier so who knows.

I'm sorry cpartist but I have a problem with those kind of responses. There seem to be a lot of them on this forum and are not helpful to the OP who is asking for some valid information.

Yes they were bought by Haier, so what! I would have preferred GE to keep their appliance business as a US company but I'm not in charge. They were the inventors of so many things but life moves on. To the best of my knowledge they are still manufactured in the US in Tennessee I think.

Will the Chinese immediately change everything about the production and make it a piece of crap? Come on! Why would they? It's a fine product and they will reap the benefits. All of the profits go back to China unfortunately. Many appliance companies are bought out by who know who. So what's different about this one?

I own a GE Monogram French door oven purchased right when all of the buy out was happening.

The product is the same, the people are the same. When you call for support you don't have a Chinese person answering the phone. ::) unlike every printer/computer you buy which is made in some other place in the world. When you need tech support because the new thinga ma jig doesn't work you get to listen to someone in India or Pakistan who thinks they are speaking English.

atkins I can't speak about their refrigerators as I think Sub Zero is the best.

I also don't know about a GE double oven. Personally I don't think a double oven is a great idea.

One breaks then what. But many people have them and are happy. In general the GE cooking appliances are good. I've had friends who had an entire kitchen with GE Monogram appliances and they were happy. My GE French Door Monogram oven is GREAT!
