Front porch decorating tips

Hello, Looking for some suggestion on updating/brightening up our front porch. I feel that it can really be a nice area with the right decor. As you can see....its a pretty enclosed area and I'm not sure what to do with it. I would love to keep the bench . The door is the same color as the trim on the house. Our HOA limits us to what colors we can paint the front door. : / We live in South Carolina and the porch faces east, so it gets morning/early afternoon sun for plants. Would appreciate any help or suggestions. Thank you!!

Thank you! Any suggestions as to the outdoor art? How large should it be? Thanks in advance!!

Such a nice big space to welcome guests... but it's very dark. I'd start by power washing the floor & painting your front door a lighter color - maybe a cream if HOA rules allow. Get a bigger welcome mat, maybe add an outdoor rug/runner to brighten up the space. For the bench, add a cushion & new pillows. I'd spray paint your pots a lighter/coordinating color. I don't think you need art... but a few big lanterns would look pretty.

I think my inspo pic is geared toward xmas so ignore the wreaths & evergreens.

thank you Paula!!! As far as your suggestion of spray painting the pots in lighter coordinating color.... Should I go towards more beige/neutral or maybe a pop of color ....more yellow, green? Sorry but I'm clueless when it comes to this! haha

Hmmmm, I think you should paint your front door first since your limited on what colors you can choose -- I'm hoping there is some type of cream or light beige available to you. Then find complimenting colors. Light yellow & light sage might be pretty.

Thanks again Paula..... here is a close up pic of our front door.... I think the screendoor may make the door look darker than it actually is. Do you still think the door should be painted even lighter (if its HOA approved) . Not sure if we can get a 'lighter' screen for our door ? I really appreciate all you help with this!!

Your door is much lighter than I thought. Definitely check with the HOA to see if a lighter screen is possible. Light will help pull it out of the shadows.

Could you add 2 sconce lights to the left wall that the bench is on? You could keep them on when it's dark or gray and they would really brighten the space. And paint or remove the screen door if possible because it really darkens your door.

Agreed -- never would've guessed your front door was so light, I thought you painted it this afternoon -- lol. It looks really nice. Do you need the screen door? Or I agree w/ others, see if you can paint it.

I'll talk to my husband regarding if we need the screen door. If we decide to keep it....I can paint the screen door frame the lighter color. But The screen itself is so dark....wondering if they make screens a lil lighter..... that way I can just go and get the screen itself replaced. Anyone aware of different screen shades?
