Cloudy streaks in Waterlox finish

I discovered cloudy streaks in my Waterlox finish. I applied 8 coats of Waterlox original sealer to a butcher block island top as I was intending to rub it out to its final sheen. I waited 2 weeks for it to cure and tested a spot along the edge profile to see how it responded. I wet sanded with 1,200 and then 1,500 wet-dry sandpaper and it revealed a cloudy streak about 4" long and 3/8" wide. I just tried to fix it by sanding it back more but it actually made the cloudy streak much bigger. I'm thinking now that it could be due to mistakenly using lacquer thinner to sand between the first two coats. Could that be the issue? Or, is it

something else? I have not noticed the cloudiness in the other area where I'm pretty sure I did not use the lacquer thinner.
