well you could put on the opposite wall where the mirror is or if you do over the fireplace have a panel built to hide the TV when not in use-- panels can either slide out (like a barn door) or shutter out- you can have it in painted wood like your fireplace so it will blend in

There really is no good spot for that TV in that space. It would require a re-design of your fireplace mantel so you could mount it on the wall either above or to the side of the FP.

And built-ins are tricky because it would mean shifting both the doorway and the window adjacent to the fireplace wall to create enough depth.

The only other alternative I see would be to re-hang the french doors so they open out, not in, so the swing won't interfere with the seating. If you do that, you could have the sofa face the wall it's currently on, with the TV mounted there. To save space put in a narrow media console below it for all the A/V equipment.

Thank you! The idea of re-hanging the exterior door is interesting. Would that be a relatively simple fix or a fairly large project that would require installing entirely new doors?

Re: the French doors, it might depend on what condition the doors are in. Talk to a contractor to get his opinion and an estimate. Would likely be less expensive than remodeling the FP.

Agree that the best solution is couch on the window side, TV flat on the long wall (with little width below). Was going to ask what your options were for using only part of the french door system...

Would you prefer watching from the chairs or from the sofa? I think a wall mount right of the French doors, once you find an alternative spot for the art, is the best option. It IS a TV; you can't avoid the large black screen upon entering in this room. I don't like them above the FP, but if you got one of the clever covers (art, mirror, doors) it might be more to your liking when you're not watching it.

decoenthusiasteI like the idea of the TV to the right of the French doors. It could be on an articulating arm for ease of viewing. Sofa would slide down that wall towards the TV, and the 2 chairs could be facing the fireplace or turned around to form an L shape with the sofa.

I would prefer any design where the sofa does not block those lovely long windows in the French doors.

How long is the room? Is it 24-28’? What is the length of your sofa? It’s a possibility you can break the room up but I wouldn’t it’s too beautiful. I know you already mentioned this but isn’t there another room you can watch tv in. As the others said if you can reverse the swing of the French doors you would be able to place the sofa on that side.

I would flip the french doors to either side where they are now, one one the right and one on the left for s symmetrical look, and build a wall where the french doors are now and then put the TV on that wall. Lovely room by the way. And I think this idea was presented up above, but just repeating what seems to be the most reasonable idea and much better than above the fireplace where everyone cranes their neck.

Interesting ideas mentioned above...but why rearrange your life. Mounting the TV above the fireplace, in my opinion is the simplest option. Install a Samsung "Frame TV" or a Seura Mirror TV and your aesthetics dilemma is resolved. The Samsung Frame TV will be able to duplicate your painting now hanging in that very spot. Any professional Pro Audio/Video company can get power & signal cables above the fireplace - a little patching and painting and yer-good-to-go.
