I would probably do something more like this. This allows you a peninsula that can also act as a bar into your living space, and keeps the work triangle in tact for your kitchen by moving your refrigerator to the opposite wall. I'd keep the sink in front of the window and though I'm not a huge fan of stoves on islands or peninsulas (or anywhere when someone can grab at the burners from the back or be splattered), I think you could do a 3' cooktop on the peninsula.

what i drew comes up to your hardwood transition assuming your dimensions were correct and in any event it wouldn't be the worse thing if the peninsula crossed over as long as the transition occurred along the back edge of the cabinet (so that it appeared deliberate). The countertop could overhang 6" to a foot, assuming a 24" base cabinet.

Also I didn't take into account the vent under the window. The cabinet I drew next to the fridge would probably end up being a work desk (nothing underneath) with cabinets overhead.

I wouldn't in that case. You don't want to create a barrier between the living space and the kitchen. You might raise the last foot or so of the counter nearest the living area to be high-bar (44"). That would accomplish the same thing.
