What's your complaint, exactly? That there's a floor drain, or that the drain is not flush with the floor, or that the drain is ugly?

Anywho, I wouldn't cover up the drain if I were you... It was obviously put there for a reason, especially if the basement was not finished originally.

If it looks bad, you could get a prettier grate for it.

Well i expected a drain, this one is in a strange spot. It’s not like a regular drain that has a grate on it. It’s round, approx 6 inches in diameter, is not flush with the floor. This is a brand new build.

So it bumps up above the level of the floor? That's weird.

I don't know if I'd have further suggestions - my experience is with very old unfinished, unfinishable basements.

And unfortunately it is placed in area where I’m putting a pool table. Will be quite annoying if its in the way.

Sound like you need to trim the pipe so the drain cover will sit flush with the floor. How much is the cover proud of the flooring?

It might only be sticking up 1/8 of an inch. It’s enough to look extremely weird. I just don’t understand why it wasn’t put in a different area of the basement. The cover on the drain is solid, no drain holes. It looks like they might be around the edge.

Does anyone have pics of a drain that isn’t in there utility room/bathroom/laundry room?

Maybe it’s just not finished yet. I’ll take some pics when I go out today.
