I'm a fan of "mow less". My previous lawn mowing person had this saying, "So you want to cancel more grass?" Yes, yes I do!

I have the same strategy!..

Plan ffor now is to just plant and keep the grass at bay by hand. Then this fall put a layer of black plastic down over winter to kill it off.

And yes the 3 other kids were all sleeping so tried to get as much planted as I could with just 1 kiddo hanging out with me haha.

I like to kill the grass by placing cardboard on the grass then mulch on top of the cardboard. BTW hostas are much more fun than grass lawns.

Was my goal and dug out sod for a few years for more hosta beds, That was my reasoning was to mow less lawns. Now my back is just not up to it but glad I did it when I was young and strong 6 or 7 yrs ago. If it were up to my friend Myrle up the his I would have no lawns and all hosta You will enjoy the process as they fill in and grow.

Great project. Old carpet works well, won’t blow away. Although Getting rid of it is a pain.

Good ideas!! The cardboard and mulch is a definite possibility too. I got everything planted...for now...until the next 6 orders come in

I use the cardboard method as well. I add raised bed soil on top of it, then mulch. I just made a new bed this way. New planting real estate!

I never had to remove grass..I don't have any!!!
