decorating advice

Would love a sectional here but it just divides the room too much. So do you do a couch with chaise attached (on left as looking at couch) or a regular couch up against wall, no chaise and a separate chaise? Or bench with no back? Needs to be functional and comfortable. Kitchen is across and there’s no other place for couch. Tv is not being moved to above fireplace.

Maybe try a sofa, and float it in the middle of the room facing the fireplace. Then add two chairs facing the TV. We also might look into getting a long, low TV console. Examples of layout options are pictured below.

I wouldn't put the couch against the window wall because you have a walkway going to another room right in front of where the couch would be. You could float a coach facing the t.v. or the fireplace, or what I think I would do is get an L-shaped sectional that faces the fireplace and the t.v. I would get a low one..West Elm has some nice ones. For the window wall, I would get a sofa table or console table and put plants or some display items on them.
