Move Master Bedroom Door for Future bathroom/ Closet Reno?

We are in the process of putting in hardwood floors thru out the whole house. We are also gutting the kitchen and removing wall between living room and kitchen.

We are thinking about moving the entrance into our master bedroom so we can add a larger closet in the future. We figured this would be a good time to do it.

Ive included the blue print that is fairly accurate & a photo of the space.

We are concerned about the aesthetics of the door by the fireplace. What would you do?Thoughts?

Our closet is small for the size of our home.

Existing Master Bedroom entrance. New Entrance would go where Shelves are. Sofa is also going to be moved to the right by 3 ft & buffet table will be relocated.

I think the symmetry is important, but even more so, you would be looking straight into your bedroom from the living area if you move the door. I would leave the door, and try to find additional closet space when you reconfigure the bathroom. You may decide you don't need a tub, or changing the vanity area may give you more closet space. I would try to do something new within that footprint. It seems you have extra space where the linen closet is, and don't need the three sided sink area.

I wouldn't like to muck up the symmetry around the fireplace, but that's me. Can you provide measurements for the MB, wic and ensuite? I increased the pic size but still couldn't make out the numbers.

I took a better picture of the floor plan. Master Bedroom is 16x15 . Current Walk in closet is 8"x6" ( there is angled wall so its probably closer to 6x6) Ensuite is approx 11x11.

I agree the symmetry is important, but is the loss worth the gain of the larger closet. Wonder if Could we still create symmetry around the fireplace by adding tall shelving to each side of the fireplace?

Much easier to read pic, thanks. I'm sure someone can recommend something that makes sense for you. I prefer a wall of reach-in storage to a WIC. Do you have any additional clothes storage in your bedroom? Those numbers sound pretty spacious to me but I understand there are windows and doors that might make things less functional than expected.

I like having a vestibule between the bedroom and family room. Do you really need a library and office. Perhaps you can use the library for the some of the bathroom and add your tub back in.

You could do a walk in below the present closet and have his and her closets.

Then add the sinks and toilet (near the tub window) and put the shower and tub in the library.

I completely agree with calidesign's comment. The bedroom opening directly to your living room is a choice you will regret.

Since you have a second linen closet in the MBR hall, might consider enlarging the existing hall closet by stealing from the linen closet in the toilet area. You could do the closet with a diagonal opening as shown or a straight run up against the bathroom wall or stairs.

Here is an idea that keeps your vestibule and enlarges your closet. You could do a hanging space closet on the outside wall or a built in dresser like I have. I use it for a lot of folded clothes and underwear. It is very handy and then you can do all hanging space in the larger closet. I double hang most things.

You could also explore keeping the toilet where I have drawn the shower and putting the shower where I have drawn the toilet.

The toilet closet also could be oriented vertically if you get rid of the linen closet.

It looks like you have high ceilings in the closet area. How about a very high closet rod that swings down on a spring, for clothes worn less often.
