What you really need is landscaping,

Your house will never look like a farmhouse. There is nothing about it that says farmhouse, unless you have mountains of money to add different things, and change roof lines etc. It is a very nice looking house though, except that it lacks curb appeal. Put in some nice trees, and some plants, and a bit of color, and disconnect your tv. LOL The color it is, is actually very nice.

I agree that you can't make a farmhouse out of a hip roofed ranch. And while I do like the color of your house now, you could paint it white with a gray undertone and paint the shutters a charcoal gray. There's also no reason you couldn't remove the storm door and do a nice stained wood door or a fiberglass door with a wood look. You could also stain the fence to match the front door color.

As others have said, landscaping will certainly help.

Maybe someone with better computer skills than I can do a mock-up of how what your wife is wanting will look on your house. That way, she will have a visual that will let her know whether or not she truly wants what she thinks she wants.

The colors she wants sound nice. This has a nice French look to it. Put the money in landscaping.

Search this site for "quoins" under Photos. Many home styles will come up; none will be the kind of farmhouse she's seeing on HGTV, but maybe she'll see one she'd like to replicate with new paint and landscaping.
